Anna Mary Robertson Moses was an American folk artist who began painting at the age of 78, beloved by critics worldwide. She was a live-in housekeeper at the age of 12 and went on to have ten children, five of whom survived infancy.
At age 92 she wrote that when she was young her father would buy her white paper by the sheet because it “lasted longer than candy.”
