Equicratic.org
I am in *LOVE* with equicratic.org— a non-profit started by a longtime friend and mentee, who— in my opinion— has the best answer ever to “why’d you leave a promising career at JP Morgan after 20 years in HR?”
Her answer: “to fight for the underrepresented… for high potential, high impact diverse talent… for people who could breathe new life into our industry– women, leaders of color, veterans, LGBTQ, the neuro-diverse.”
And with data no less!
I’m floored.
Not just by the ambition. But because the data behind the site is so sobering.
We all know intuitively that our industry is not making progress fast enough when it comes to #DEI. So when someone quits their job to live their values (and to hold us accountable to ours), our only response as a community should be to ask how we can help.
I’ve already signed up as a mentor and coach. I encourage every senior leader to do the same.
If you’re up-and-coming talent and looking for a coach or sponsor at a different bank, sign up. Not because you’re disgruntled. But because the world should be fighting over you.
If you’re sitting in a region outside NY or London and looking for a coach or sponsor in another region, sign up. If you’re hesitant, look closely at the “By Geography” section of the site. It blew me away.
If you work in data science, volunteer your brain. You’ve certainly got enough to share.
And if you work in HR— like @Zara used to— let her act of courage inspire you to rediscover why you first fell in love with your calling. Let it inspire you to help talent within your walls realize that those walls are a fiction; that a borderless mindset and principled actions lead to a world that’s more diverse, more equitable, more inclusive.
More human than resources.
