Everything's Fine
Your leaders will work hard on everything, including making you feel like everything is going well.
It’s rarely malicious. They just mistake the autonomy you both value with “I should handle this myself. That is– after all– my job.”
And it is. And they *can* handle it themselves.
But maybe… autonomy's blind spot is its failure to nourish interdependence… and to recognize that the best way to lead through challenges– especially small ones– is together.

A telltale sign that there’s a growth opportunity: your leader will only mention challenges when they think someone’s about to escalate to you. They want to make sure you’re not surprised; that you look like you’re on top of your game.
It’s well intentioned.
But maybe… if you both were “on top of your game,” you’d be working on it together.
That’s the real bar for “everything is going well”-- not awareness, not regular status updates, and definitely not RAG reviews where the reds and ambers are the only conversation.

Growth starts with sweating the small stuff. Together.
